Sanctification and the Form of Life
We understand from his own words that Paul did this; not only was he “crucified to the world, and crucified the world to himself,” but he changed the very form of his life, no longer living as himself, moving and acting as a private agent. Rather, he had Christ living and acting in himself. He disregarded himself completely, and putting his own will to death, he subjected himself completely to the will of God. So that, if I might apply titles boldly, Paul would rather be said to be Christ than to be a living being; for “his life was Christ.
